Letters | Escape the Darkness

These letters were inspired by a look at Colossians 1:13-14, “For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”

I originally posted this over at KindredSoulCo. In Christ, we have been rescued from darkness and brought into His glorious light. He is our escape from the darkness, and that is a beautiful and much needed truth for those of us feeling the weight of our sin and shame. You were once darkness, but now are you light in the Lord (Ephesians 5:8). Whatever sin has you hiding from the Lord or feeling distant from Him, flee to Him for forgiveness and mercy, for He stands ready to forgive (1 John 1:9). On the Cross, He cancelled your debt of sin once and for all, “He takes the indictment drawn up against his people and nails it to His cross. His victorious passion sets them free from their bankruptcy and bondage (Dr. Constable).”
